From Ontario County Journal 5 May 1899

The mortuary record of births, marriages and deaths of the town of East Bloomfield during the year 1898 shows that with a population of less than 2,000 the town records show 40 deaths. The 12 oldest persons averaged 98 years and 3 months. The remarkable ages here show is largely attributable to its salubrious climate and the skill of its three practicing physicians.
