The Committee procured of H.B. Gibson a deed of the old cemetery and some new land. The title was conveyed to the trustees of the M.E. Church of Port Gibson and the trustees of the Presbyterian Church in trust for the inhabitants of Port Gibson and vicinity, to be used as a cemetery by said subscribers. The deed was recorded in January 1844.

Mead Allerton procured new land of Gardner Straight and wife for a piece of land lying south of Old Cemetery, dated April 27, 1854.
