DIED - In Canandaigua, of consumption, on Tuesday evening, January 9th, Daniel C. Crofut, aged 51 years, 5 months and 6 days.

At East Victor, January 1st, of consumption, Mrs. Julia D. Ford, aged 24 years and 5 months.

DIED - In Canandaigua, January 18th, Mrs. Anna Hawley, in the 74th year of her age. The deceased left eleven children, three of her sons are practicing physicians.

In this village, suddenly, on the 28th inst., Bernard Scandling, aged 24 years.

DIED - At Kalamazoo, Mich., on Thursday, February 1st, Thomas R. Williams, formerly of Canandaigua, aged 47 years.

DIED - In Canandaigua, March 30th, Mrs. S. Towne, aged 81 years. Mrs. Towne was born in Rowley, Essex Co., Mass., 1791; moved to Canandaigua in 1815.

DIED - George Cameron Hubbell, eldest son of Walter S. Hubbell, Esq., of this village, on Saturday, 27th April, aged 17 years, 6 months and 5 days.



8 May 1872

DIED - On Friday, April 26th, Jacob Smith, of the town of Canandaigua, in the 73d year of his age.

At the residence of her son, Jared Knapp, in Hopewell, Margaret, widow of the late David Knapp, calmly and peacefully breathed herself away into the spirit world, April 23d, in her 80th year, at the home where she lived sixty years.

MARRIED - In Seneca Falls, May 15th, by the Rev. W. W. Lyle, Geo. B. Anderson of Canandaigua and Lottie Leland of Seneca Falls. Also at the same time and place Charles June of Detroit, Mich., and Mary Leland of Seneca Falls.

DIED - In Valparaiso, Indiana, on Tuesday, May 14th, Mrs. Mary Fox, wife of William Fox, aged 33 years, formerly of Canandaigua.

DIED - In Bethel, May 14, Olney Rice, aged 64 years.

In Hopewell, May 16, Martha, consort of Ezekiel Birdseye, aged 63 years. Mrs. Birdseye's death was occasioned by the removal of a tumor, weighing some 40 lbs. ten days previous to her death.

DIED - At Centrefield, on the 27th May, ult., of paralysis, Mrs. Dacy Saunders, relict of the late Hervey Saunders, Esq., aged 86 years.

DIED - At Canandaigua, June 6th, 1872, John Kear, in his 60th year of age.

John Wouloughan, born in County Wicklow, Ireland; served 8 years in Veterinary College, Dublin; came to Canandaigua in 1848, died June 5th, aged 80 years.

DIED - In this village on the morning of the 2d, inst., after a protracted illness, Michael O'Grady, aged 42 years.

On Wednesday, June 19, by the Rev. Mr. Howard, at Hunter, near the Catskill Mountains, Dr. Henry Foster, proprietor of the Clifton Springs Sanitarium, to Miss Mary Edwards, of Brooklyn.

In Geneva, Thursday evening, June 20, at the residence of the bride's parents, by Rev. J. Rankine, D. D., Edward N. Squires of Corning, to Euretta S., eldest daughter of Wm. B. Dunning, Esq.

DIED - In this village, June 27th, of paralysis, John J. Lyon, aged 66 years. Mr. L. was formerly County Clerk for this county, and a gentleman highly respected in our Village.

DIED - In this village, July 25th, Leman B. Garlinghouse, in the fifty-ninth year of his age.

At her father's residence in this village, on Saturday, the 20th inst., Miss Carrie P. Lamport, youngest daughter of Hon. William H. Lamport, aged 26 years.

DIED - In this village, on the 2d inst., after a lingering illness, Mrs. Celinda A. Hudson, wife of M. B. Hudson, and daughter of Rob't B. Beach of Geneva, aged 37 years and 8 months.

In Canandaigua, Friday evening, August 2d, Cora A., daughter of Charles H. and Anna E. Lee, aged 2 years and 10 months.

DIED - On Tuesday, Aug. 13th, Waterman Power, aged 64 years. Funeral at his late residence, West Farmington, Thursday, Aug. 15 at 2 P. M.

At South Bristol, on Tuesday, the 13th inst., Edmond C. Coy, son of the late Horace T. Coy, aged 11 years and 8 months.

In Canandaigua, on the 27th of February, William Martin, in the 73d year of his age.

In this village, on the 14th inst., in the 77th year of her age, Mrs. Eliza Chapin, widow of Spencer Chapin, deceased.

On the 15th inst., while on a visit to her friends in Owego, Mina, wife of Leonard F. Supplee, and daughter of Mr. H. D. Bates of Canandaigua.

DIED - In this village, on the 26th inst., Charles B. Meek, aged 77 years.

DIED - In Hopewell, on the 2d ult., David Carlough, in the 77th year of his age, a worthy and respectable citizen, who came to this county from New Jersey at the age of 19, where he continued to reside up to the time of his death.

DIED - At his father's residence, in this village, at 10:30 this morning, of consumption, George Twist, aged 22 years. The deceased was a member of Hook and Ladder Company No. 1.

In this village, on the 22d inst., Hannah F., wife of E. N. Green, in the 53d year of her age. Funeral services Thursday, 24th inst., at the family residence, 53 Bristol street.

In East Bloomfield, on the afternoon of April 20th, aged 69 years, E. A. North, an old and respected resident of that town.

In Canandaigua, April 17th, Mary Maud, only child of Alfred and Jennie M. Denbow, aged 9 months and 29 days.

In Canandaigua, August 15th, Sarah A., only daughter of Samuel and Angeline Tongate, aged 5 months and 16 days.

At Manchester, the 1st inst., Henry H. Faurot, aged 31 years.

DIED - In Farmington, Sunday, September 21st, Josephine M. Browning, wife of R. R. Crowell, in the 40th year of her age. Her remains were taken to Woodbridge, N. J., for interment.

In Lansing, Mich., on Wednesday, September 17th, Johanna, wife of James Appleyard, formerly of this village, in the 38th year of her age. The body was brought to this village for interment, and was conveyed to its last resting place on Sunday, attended by a large number of mourning friends.

In Canandaigua, on Tuesday morning, September 16th, Julia C., infant daughter of Dr. A. and Emma E. Eldridge, aged 3 weeks and 1 day.

In Canandaigua, on Monday, September 29th, Sarah E. Sherwood, eldest daughter of James L. and Margaret J. Sherwood, in the 23d year of her age.

DIED - In Elmira, at the residence of his sister, on Sunday, Oct. 12th, William Saunders, Jr., son of William and Margaret Saunders of Canandaigua, aged 19 years, 6 months and 5 days.

In East Bloomfield, Oct. 5, Dea. Ephraim N. Palmer, aged 51 years.

MARRIED - On Wednesday, October 15th, at the residence of the bride's mother, by the Rev. Frank T. Bayley, Edward C. Williams to Caroline T. Gorham, youngest daughter of Mrs. W. W. Gorham, all of Canandaigua.

DIED - At Canandaigua, on the 16th day of October, Jonas M. Wheeler, in the 77th year of his age.

At the residence of her parents, this morning, after an illness of about three weeks, Miss Helen Gertrude, daughter of A. C. and Mary M. Herbert, aged 21 years, 3 months and 14 days. Funeral services at residence, No. 45 Bristol street.

DIED - In this village on Wednesday, Oct. 15th, of gastric fever, Emma L., only daughter of S. F. and Caroline A. Ambler.

In this village on the evening of the 4th Nov. inst., John Crane, in the 82d year of his age. Funeral from the residence of O. N. Crane, No. 44 Gorham street.

At the residence of P. H. Rose, on Sunday night last, Mr. William Swift, in his 87th year. Deceased was the father of Mrs. P. H. Rose and Mrs. Mary Swift, the widow of the late Henry C. Swift. He leaves another daughter, Mrs. Wm. Jones, and a son in Michigan.

At the residence of the Misses Hanna in Hopewell, Oct. 26, after a lingering illness, Hattie, daughter of John and Pauline Cutler, aged 17 years, formerly of this place.

MARRIED - In Shortsville, on the 6th inst., by the Rev. Mr. Harlow, Abraham Hills, Esq., of Canandaigua, and Miss Mary E. Aldrich, of the former place.

MARRIED - In Clifton Springs, at the residence of E. B. Dewey, Wednesday, Nov. 26th by Rev. E. C. Corbin, Mr. James H. Williams of Canandaigua, and Miss Martha J. Hildreth of Clifton Springs.

In Orleans, Dec. 10th, by Rev. E. S. Corbin, Mr. William H. Newell and Miss Frankie A. Moore.

DIED - In this village, Tuesday evening, December 15th, at 7 o'clock, George W. Mason, aged 31 years. The funeral will take place at the residence of his father, James Mason, Esq., on Bristol street.
