Declaration of Intention
    On this 28 day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three personally appears before me the County Judge of Ontario County Court (the said Court being a Court of Record, having Common Law Jurisdiction, and a Clerk and Seal,) William Mosey of the village of Geneva town of Seneca Ont. Coy at Y but late of England, and declares upon oath in open Court, that he was born in England a subject of the King of Great Brittain on or about the 18th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three as he is informed and believes – that he emigrated therefrom, and arrived in the United States on or about the 1st day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty that he has ever since his arrival therein, resided in the United States, and not elsewhere, and, particularly, that he has resided at his present place of residence for the last five months past – that it is, bona fide, his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, whatever, and particularly, all allegiance and fidelity to the Queen of Great Brittain of whom he is now a subject.

     The said applicant having made application to this Court to become a citizen of the United States, and it appearing that he the said applicant two years since, made the declaration required by law, and it appearing to the full satisfaction of this Court that he has complied in all respects with the laws of the United States in relation to naturalization, and the Court being satisfied that the said applicant has resided in the United States, for at least five years immediately preceding this application, and that during all that time he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same, and the said applicant having appeared in open Court and taken and subscribed the oath that he will support the Constitution of the United States and of abjuration required by law:  Ordered, that the said William Mosey be and he is hereby admitted a citizen of the United States and of any of them.

The Petition of William Mosey Jr. of the town of Seneca County of Ontario respectfully shows that your petitioner, as he is informed and believes, was born in England and is now of the age of 29 years, and that he was a subject of the Queen of Great Britain to whom he owed allegiance; that he emigrated to the United States at least five years ago, and he has ever since resided within the United States, and has not for more than five years now last past resided out of, or been out of the United States, at any time during the said five years, and for more than one year now last past, he has been a resident of the State of New York; That it has been his bona fide intention for more than five years, now last past, to become a citizen of the United States of America, and that in pursuance of such intention, he did on the 19 day of October 1854 make and subscribe his declaration of such intention, which declaration was made and filed pursuant to law, and a certified copy of which is hereunto annexed, and to which he prays leave to refer.  Your petitioner therefore prays that he may be admitted to all the rights and benefits, priveleges and immunities of a citizen of the United States of America, pursuant to the provision of the Acts of Congress, in such case made and provided, and to be naturalized as such citizen upon producing satisfactory proof of his good moral character, and attachment to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and that he is well disposed to the happiness and good order of the same, and upon taking the oath to support the said Constitution, and to renounce allegiance as aforesaid, as is further required by the provisions of the said Acts of Congress.

Mosey of the Town of Seneca County of Ontario, respectfully shows that your Petitioner, as he is informed and believes, was born in England and is now of the age of 25 years, and that he was a subject of the Queen of Great Britain + c to whom he owed allegiance; that he emigrated to the United States at least five years ago, and he has ever since resided within the United States, and has not for more than five years now last past resided out of, or been out of the United States at any time during the said five years, and for more than one year now last past, he has been a resident of the State of New York; That it has been his bona fide intention for more than five years, now last past, to become a citizen of the United States of American, and that he came to the United States of American under the age of eighteen years.  Your petitioner therefore prays that he may be admitted to all the right and benefits, priveleges and immunities of a citizen of the United States of America, pursuant to the provisions of the Acts of Congress, in such case made and provided, and to be naturalized as such citizen upon producing satisfactory proof of his good moral character, and attachment to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and that he is well disposed to the happiness and good order of the same, and upon taking the oath to support the said Constitution, and to renounce allegiance as aforesaid, as is further required by the provision of the said Acts of Congress.
