DIED - In Canandaigua, Dec. 24, Sally Durand Mallory, in the 70th year of her age.

In Hopewell, on the 17th inst., after a protracted illness, Martha, widow of the late William Allison, aged about 70 years.

MARRIED - In this village, on the 17th inst., by Rev. S. Crane, H. P. Brown to Elizabeth S. Rogers, all of Canandaigua.

DIED - In Toledo, on the morning of January 21st, Charles Chesebro, formerly a resident of this village, and second son of Nicholas G. Chesebro.

Of dropsy, in this village, on the 18th inst., Henry Sterling, Esq., aged 77 years.

In Gorham, on the 20th inst., Martin Blodget, aged 78 years. He was a very respectable citizen of that town, and one of a very few of the early settlers that were left.

At York, Mich., on the 7th inst., Daniel Carpenter, aged 60 years, formerly of Hopewell.

On the 27th ult., at Flint Creek, Geo. McPherson, aged 26 years.

DIED - In this village, on Sunday evening, January 27th, Mrs. Mary Hale, wife of Ebenezer Hale, Esq., in the 71st year of her age.

DIED - In this village, Sunday, February 3d, Nathaniel Jacobs, M. D., in the 79th year of his age.

In Geneva, Feb. 1st, by his honor Judge Dusinberre, Mr. Noah Rose and Mrs. Sarah Loomis, both of Geneva.

DIED - In this village, Feb. 5th, at the advanced age of 90 years, Mrs. Abigail Saxton, mother of Stephen Saxton, Esq., of this place.

In Phelps, on the 2d inst., Bridget Cagan, aged 54 years.

On the 3d inst., Jane Ingraham, aged 85 years.

In Phelps, on the 4th inst., after a long and severe illness, of typhoid pneumonia, Mrs. Rebecca Bannister, wife of Mr. Christopher Bannister, aged 52 years.

In Seneca, Jan. 26th 1861, Mr. John Scoon, in the 90th year of his age. The deceased emigrated from Scotland to Albany Co., in 1801, and to this county in 1802, where he continued to reside until the time of his death.

In Geneva, Jan. 31st, of consumption, Mary Ellen Bellgrave, in the 16th year of her age.

MARRIED - In South Bristol, on the 7th inst., by Rev. J. S. Penoyer, Mr. Jeremiah B. Ketchum of Bristol to Miss Mary A. Benedict of S. Bristol.

DIED - At Rushville, on Saturday the 16th inst., Elizabeth, wife of Charles D. Castle, aged 42 years.

In this town, Feb. 5th, Lucy Cassort, wife of David Cassort, in the 58th year of her age.

In this town, on the 14th inst., Mrs. Eleanor Boyd, widow of the late John Boyd, aged 70 years.

MARRIED - At the house of J. Dennis, Esq., in Chapinville, February 10th, by Rev. L. D. Chase, Mr. Powell of South Bristol to Miss M. Johnson of Bristol.

DIED - In this village, on Sunday the 24th ult., Sarah, wife of Theodore H. Hale, and daughter of Hon. Nathaniel Boyden of Salisbury, North Carolina.

In the town of Phelps, on the 25th ult., Milo Goodale, aged 20 years.

DIED - At Chapinville, February 19th, of diphtheria, Edmund B., youngest son of Maria C. and E. W. Wolcott.

DIED - Suddenly in this village, on the 13th inst. Mr. John Finley, in the 74th year of his age.

In this village, on Tuesday evening, March 19th, Mrs. Laura L. Neele, aged 44 years, widow of the late Thomas Neele.

In Manchester, on the 9th inst., Tillman Shean, aged 52 years.

In Phelps, on the 9th inst., Allen S. Burgess, aged 38 years.

In Phelps, on the 9th inst., Sarah A. Stoneburgh, aged 30 years.

27 March 1861

MARRIED - In this village on the 21st inst., at the residence of the bride's father, by the same, Allen D. Pease to Ella Legard, both of Canandaigua.

DIED - In Chapinville, March 14th, F. H. Wolcott, son of E. W. and M. C. Wolcott, aged nearly sixteen years. This affliction is rendered doubly distressing because it was so recently preceded by a similar visitation. Only about three weeks before, little Edward, the youngest of the family, passed away to be with the angels, aged two years and seven months; and now, the stroke is repeated in the death of the oldest son. Both died of the same disease, diphtheria.



17 April 1861

MARRIED - On Monday evening, the 15th inst., by the Rev. A. H. Lung, at the residence of the bride's father, John Joyner of Virgil, N. Y., to Hannah M. Phelps of Canandaigua.

DIED - In West Bloomfield, on the 7th April, inst., Joseph Chase, aged 67 years. Mr. Chase was one of the early settlers in the town.

In Phelps, on the 5th inst., Mrs. Jane A., wife of Joseph Vandemark, aged 28 years.



1 May 1861

DIED - In Hopewell, on the 9th ult., William Riley Marks, only son of Walter Marks, Esq., aged 28 years.

In this village, April 19, Mrs. Mary W. Carr, aged 54 years, wife of Dr. Edson Carr, and daughter of Thomas Beals, Esq.

In Philadelphia on Friday, April 12th, Theodore H. Hart, son of Theod. E. Hart of this village, in the 31st year of his age. His remains were brought to this village for burial.



8 May 1861

DIED - In Victor on Monday, May 6th, of diphtheria, Mary Eola Torrence, daughter of Col. G. W. and Hannah S. Torrence, aged 5 years, 11 months and 23 days.

At Gorham, April 30th, at the house of L. B. Witter, of diphtheria, Margaret, daughter of William B. Cone, aged 15 years.

DIED - In Seneca, on the 8th inst., Mrs. Charlotte, wife of Lucius Warner, aged 64 years.



29 May 1861

MARRIED - In Chapinville, May 15th, by Rev. L. D. Chase, Mr. R. H. Jones, of Clifton, Ontario Co., to Miss Mary Johnson of Chapinville.

In Gorham, May 16th, by Rev. Alvah Sibly, Sidney, second son of Thomas Bell, to Phebe M., second daughter of Nathaniel Smith.

DIED - In Gorham, May 14, Mrs. Sarah, consort of William O. Witter, and daughter of Andrew Severs, aged 19 years.

In this town on the 28th inst., Mrs. Polly Brockelbank, aged 67 years, wife of John Brockelbank.



12 June 1861

MARRIED - At the residence of the bride's father in Stockbridge, Madison county, on the 3d inst., Capt. Henry Faurot of Canandaigua, to Theresa D. Hancock of the former place.

On the 29th ult., by Rev. A. H. Lung, at the residence of the bride's father, in Canandaigua, Levi T. Sheldon of Manchester, to Esther Ann Wykoff.

DIED - In Manchester, William E. Lapham, son of Epephras and Abigail Lapham, aged 31 years.

DIED - In East Bloomfield, June 17th, after a protracted illness, Mrs. Hannah R., wife of Oliver W. Chamberlain, at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Tryphena Thompson; aged 30 years.

MARRIED - In this village, July 4th, by Rev. A. H. Lung, Wm. Henry Dartt of Lima to Emma L. Anderson of Hopewell.

DIED - In Phelps, July 4th, 1861, at the residence of her father-in-law, Mrs. Addie M. Severance, aged 18 years and three months.



28 August 1861

MARRIED - In Chicago, on the 21st inst., at Grace Church, by Rev. Clintong Locke, James Wylie, Esq., of St. Paul, Minn., and Miss Frances M. Wood of Canandaigua.

DIED - In this village this morning, Aug. 28th, after a brief illness, William Heard, in the 83d year of his age.



4 September 1861

DIED - In this town, on the 19th ult., Joseph Hayton, aged 44 years.

In South Bristol, on the 15th ult., Carrie Laurentia, daughter of R. S. Treat, aged 1 years and 5 months.

On the 31st ult., at the residence of his brother in Mendon, Monroe co., Gideon S. Johnson, of the town, aged 38 years.

DIED - In this village, Sept. 9th, of diphtheria, Eva E., daughter of Benjamin W. and Louisa R. Bateman, aged 5 years, 10 months and 21 days.

MARRIED - In Hopewell on Sunday, Aug. 1st, by the Rev. Mr. Greensward, Mr. L. M. Goodwin to Mrs. L. A. Willson, both of Hopewell.

Sept. 11th, Mr. Walter M. Fleming of Rochester to Miss Dollie M. Spencer of Canandaigua, by Rev. J. K. Tuttle, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Canandaigua.

DIED - In this village, on Monday, 2d inst., from chronic disease of the brain, Chester Coleman, aged 80 years.

In this town, on Friday morning, the 13th inst., Mrs. Jane Dempsey, aged 90 years and 6 months.

MARRIED - In this village on Tuesday, the 24th ult., by the Rev. Dr. Daggett, Dr. J. B. Hayes to Miss Louise A. Coleman, all of this place.

September 25th, by the Rev. Mr. Hancock, Marrion P. Worthy of Richmond, to Celesta M. Case of West Bloomfield.

DIED - In Hopewell, Sept. 21st, Mr. Silas Benham, aged 85 years, after a short illness. Mr. B. having been a resident of that town for over forty years; he leaves an aged widow to mourn his loss.

MARRIED - At Gorham, at the residence of James Moor, on the 20th inst., by Rev. T. S. Hill, Mr. Leonard Knapp to Mrs. Keren H. Moor, all of Hopewell.

DIED - In this village at Hall Greig, on the 16th inst., deeply regretted, after a long and painful illness, borne with christian patience and fortitude, Elizabeth Maxwell, wife of Mr. John Alexander, aged 50 years. Mrs. Alexander was a native of Wigtonshire, Scotland.

In Gorham, Nov. 9th, Eliza, daughter of J. Blackman, aged 12 years; on the 17th Mabel Mead, consort of the late William Mead, age 54 years.

In Hopewell, Nov. 19th, Althea Densmore, consort of the late Eimri Densmore, aged 72 years.

DIED - In Wilkesbarre, P. A., of typhoid fever, Barbara Ann, daughter of Patience S. and Austin Steward, of this village, aged 26 years and 9 months.

In this village, Nov. 29, 1861, Dr. Edwin Case, in the 61st year of his age.

In this village, on the 8th inst., by Rev. Father Early, Mr. Richard Rochford to Miss Mary Murray, all of this place.

DIED - At LaFayette, Indiana, Oct. 15th, Mr. Leonard Booth, in the 79th year of his age. Mr. Booth came to this county in 1811, and was a resident here over forty years.

MARRIED - At the Canandaigua Hotel, on the 18th inst., by Rev. J. K. Tuttle, Asa Sackett and Mary Jane McDoual, both of Rushville.

In Phelps, on the 11th inst., by Rev. Mr. Clapp, Mr. Oliver Crothers to Miss Mary Ridley, both of that town.

DIED - In Phelps, on the 6th inst., of cancer in the stomach, Milton Mosier, aged 52 years.

At Clifton Springs, on the 5th inst., Elizabeth Cronise, wife of Rev. Gideon Draper, aged 81 years.

DIED - In Bristol, in this County, early on the morning of the 30th December, 1861, Mrs. Sally Mason, wife of John Mason, Esq., aged 59 years.

MARRIED - In the Presbyterian Church, Hopewell, on the 5th January, 1862, by Rev. J. K. Tuttle of Canandaigua, Rev. E. Everett, pastor of said church, to Miss Maria T. Wier of Hopewell.

DIED - On the 8th inst., at the residence of his father in Canandaigua, Stephen H. Andrews of Saint Paul, Minnesota, in the 37th year of his age.



29 January 1862

DIED - In this village, this morning, January 29th, of diphtheria, John J., only child of Lewis J. and Mary E. Sutherland, aged 2 years and 20 days.

In Phelps, on Monday last, after a short illness, of apoplexy, in his 77th year, Mr. Frederick Vandemark, an old and highly respected citizen.

DIED - Of diphtheria in Hopewell, Jan. 14th, Frank, youngest son of Wm. and Amelia Scanlin, aged 4 years and 9 months.

In Orleans, on the 6th inst., by the Rev. C. G. Carpenter, Mr. Fred Stotenburg of Hopewell to Miss Lucie M. King of Orleans.

In Walworth, on the 4th inst., Rev. W. L. Page, late pastor of the Presbyterian (White) Church of Phelps to Miss Mary Yeomans of the former place.

DIED - In Manchester on the 2d inst., of diphtheria, Cassie M. Scandling, aged 27 years and 15 days, daughter of R. Scandling.

In this village on Sunday evening, Feb. 9th, Altie W. Cheney, wife of Dr. E. W. Cheney, aged 61 years.
