The old USO building at the top of Seneca St. and Main
St., Geneva NY.
Postmarked Geneva, N.Y. Sept. 8, 1943, from a sailor
stationed or training at the U.S. Naval Training
Station at Sampson on Seneca Lake.
Dear Jeanne:
Remember me. I met you this afternoon. I am writting
this to you from the U.S.O. I will write you a nice
long letter tomorrow. Don't forget to answer me.
All my love
Jerry.
The sailor's return address was:
J. Bronitsky 17-S
U.S.N.T.S.
Co. 580(?) Unit G-18
Sampson, N.Y.
Before being used as a USO during WWII entertaining
servicemen
stationed at Sampson Naval Training Base and the Army Ordnance Depot,
both
located across the lake in the Town of Romulus, Seneca County, I
believe
this building was used as an automobile dealership. After WWII it was a
Civic
Center and used for various community agencies. The original building
may have
been one of the early churches in Geneva.
