The twelfth census of the United States was conducted under the terms of the census act of March 3, 1899, and was limited to those questions asked for all the population in 1890, with only minor changes in content. The official enumeration day of the 1900 census was 1 June 1900. All questions asked were supposed to refer to that date. Details included were: * Name of every person in household * Age and month of birth * Relationship to head-of-household * Name of street and number of house if applicable * Sex * Color (race) * Birthplace * Occupation * Marital status and number of years in a marriage * Number of children born to a mother * Number of children still living at the time of the census * Number of years in the U.S. * Birthplace of father and mother * Whether parents were of foreign birth * Whether able to read or write, speak English or attended school within the previous year |
