Will of Ruhama T. Hicks (ca 1844 - 1919).
Ruhama TRAVIS was born in Orange County NY or Pike County PA.;
was second wife
of Washington Lafayette HICKS of Canandaigua, NY.
I, Ruhama T. Hicks, of the City of Canandaigua, County of Ontario and
State of New York, do make, publish and declare this my last will and
Testament in manner following:
First, - I direct that all my just debts and funeral
expenses be paid.
Second, - I direct that a monument of white marble
be erected at my grave, the same to be similar in all respects to that
erected at the grave of my husband in the West Avenue Cemetery at
Canandaigua, N.Y. and that there be expended for the same about the sum
of seventy-five dollars.
Third, - I direct that a monument of gray granite
similar in style to the one erected at my grave, shall be erected at
the graves of my father and mother in the cemetery at Port Jervis,
N.Y., proper inscriptions to be engraved on the one stone, and that
there be expended for the same about
the sum of seventy-five dollars.
Fourth, - I give and bequeath to my nephew, Spencer
H. Travis, of New York City, the sum of one hundred dollars.
Fifth, - I give and bequeath to my niece, Mary
Elizabeth Olmestead, of New York City, the sum of two hundred dollars.
Sixth, - I direct that the note held by me against
my brother, Howard Travis, and his wife, Louisa Travis, shall be
cancelled.
Seventh, - All the rest, residue and remainder of my
property and estate, of whatever name and nature, or of whatever the
same
may consist and wheresoever situated, I give devise and bequeath to my
brother,
Howard Travis, of New York City. Likewise, I make, constitute,
and
appoint my brother, Howard Travis, to be executor of this my last Will
and
Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time
heretofore
made, and I do hereby give to my said executor full power of authority
to
sell and convey any real estate of which I may die seized as fully as I
might
do if living.
In whiteness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my seal this sixteenth day of July, in the year one
thousand nine
hundred and thirteen.

The foregoing instrument was on the day of the date
thereof subscribed by the testatrix therein named, and she at the time
declared the same to be her last Will and Testament in our presence,
and we thereupon at
her request and in the presence of each other, subscribed our name
thereto as attesting witnesses to the execution thereof.
