I'm having some difficulty tracing my ggGM: BAGLEY, Sarah - b. 1790 in
NY m. 1807 to Elias JENNISON III, prob. NY 9 children born ca. 1808 -
ca. 1826, all in NY d. 1856 on the trail to Iowa (prob. in IN or IL)
Her son, my gGF, George Elias JENISON, declared in the 1900 US Census
[Wright Co., Iowa, pg. 268], that his mother was born "in Canada," but
the Census of 1850 for Wabash Co., Indiana [Noble Twp, p. 447]
indicates that she was b. in "New York."; I believe that she may have
been born in Ontario Co. NY (..and thus the confusion with
"Canada"), since there appear to have been a fairly large number of
both
BAGLEY and JENNISON families in that county in the census data from the
early 1800s. Her father *may* have been Edward BAGLEY.

1819. and purchased 100 acres in the Holland Purchase. He married Olive
ALDRIDGE or ALDRICH (8 July 1798, Ontario Co., NY - 10 Sept. 1880,
Carlton, Orleans Co., NY) circa 1816-17. The Latter Day Saints
International Genealogical Index B218 for United States & Canada
contains a
birth record for an Oliver CAIN, whose mother and father were John
and Anna CAIN. That Oliver was born 27 November 1792 in Taunton,
Bristol
Co, MA. [we know that our Oliver CAIN was born ca 1793, but it was
thought
to have been in Vermont] There is also a birth record for a John Cain
(same mother and father), whose birth was 24 May 1790 in Taunton,
Bristol
Co, MA. The IGI also has a marriage record for John CAIN and Anna
BARROWS,
whose marriage occurred 4 May 1786 in Taunton, Bristol Co, MA. I don't
know for sure that this is our Oliver CAIN, but it is possible, as that
is a distinct name, and also he named one of his sons John. Oliver and
Olive
had 6 children: John A., who was married to Betsey ROSE and Philena
HOUSEMAN;
William A., husband of Dolly J. DORKIG; Emily Ann, wife of Peter B.
COVERT;
James Alva, who married Clarissa T. HOUSEMAN; George Washington,
husband
of Fanny Eliza COONRAD; and Olive Elizabeth, wife of Joseph Strike
KEELER.
Would very much like to hear from anyone researching these people.

My connections to the
Town of Seneca is with my Campbell family. A James CAMPBELL was b.
30 Jan 1806, Cherry Valley, NY. He was the son of James CAMPBELL who
was also b. Cherry Valley. The date that was given to me by a family
member for the birth date of my last known James CAMPBELL is a birth
date that correspondes with that of one of Col. Samuel CAMPBELL's
children.
Although my family has seemed to connect us with the family of Col.
Samuel,
and placed us at the time of the Cherry Valley massacre, I do not
believe
that my family and Col. Samuel's family to be one of the same. I have
not been able to find my last known James anywhere in Cherry Valley, so
I have come to the conclusion, that he was probably not from the town
of
Cherry Valley, but from the area around the town known as Cherry
Valley.
I have a copy of his son (James CAMPBELL) death certificate which shows
his father James b. in Cherry Valley. This last known James was married
to a Susan. There is a water mark or stain across the original document
where Susan's last name appears, so it has been difficult to determine
what
her last name was. I have concluded it to be either HULL, HUSE, HULT ,
HUTT,
or HUNT. She was also b. Cherry Valley. Her death date is unknown, but
I believe the last known James Campbell moved with his son, James to
the Town of Seneca. Last known James d. 23 Mar 1870, location unknown.

Joseph DOTY Born: 1812 - 1816 Where: Ontario County, New York (Monroe
County changed to Ontario County in 1821, so this is probably why it is
stated on Military records as "Ontario") Census: 1840: Joseph DOTY was
in Perinton, Monroe County New York. "there was a male child
less than 5 yrs. old. this would of been William, One male 20-30

Side line note: Joseph & 1st wife apparently moved from New York
to Michigan Ca. 1844-1846. This 1st wife apparently died in Michigan
Ca.
1848-1850 since she doesn't show up on the census. On the same census
page just a couple households later there is the following: Edwin DOTY

40
female B. N.J. this could be Joseph's brother (Edwin), Mother (Betsey)
and sister (Dorcas). This would mean that Joseph parents lived in New
Jersey in 1810 (Dorcas's approximate birthdate & moved into Ontario
County, N.Y. ca. 1812-1818. Joseph's younger brother Edwin was also
born
in N.Y.ca. 1820. 1860: Joseph in Jackson Township, Van Buren Co. Iowa.
