The Victor Herald of last week carried the following in reference to the
death of the father of one of our Fairport teachers.
Dr. Richard K. Embley, 74, of Holcomb, widely known Ontario county
veterinary surgeon, died of pneumonia in Strong Memorial hospital, Rochester,
Thursday morning, after a month's illness. He was born in the town of East
Bloomfield, where he had spent his entire life, with the exception of a few
years in Boston when a child. Dr. Embley was graduated in 1887 from the Ontario Veterinary college in
Toronto, and had practiced for the most part in Holcomb and East Bloomfield. In
the fall of 1929 he under went an operation for the amputation of one leg and
conducted a limited practice until his final illness. He was married in 1887 to
Miss Margaret McDonnell of East Bloomfield, who died last July. He was a member
of Milnor Lodge, F. & A. M. Dr. Embley leaves two daughters, Mrs. Frank A. Brockmyre of Canandaigua and
Miss Margaret Embley, a teacher in Fairport; one sister, Mrs. Abigail Butler of
Holcomb, and three grandchildren.
